Kenyan masterclass. With this time, Kamworor takes 17 seconds off the world record at the Copenhagen Half Marathon. A record that was previously set last year in Valencia and held by fellow Kenyan runner Abraham Kiptum. Kamworor was part of a larger group pacing through the first five kilometers, but he soon upped the tempo, finally reaching the finish line 75 seconds clear of the second-placed athlete, Bernard Kipkorir. This is usually not a good sign, as runners tend to slow down if they are not being ''hunted'', however, this proved not to affect Kamworor. https://www.instagram.com/p/B2bcogsghYf/ A clearly emotional and proud Kamworor crossed the finish line in tears. “It is very emotional for me to set this record,” said Kamworor. “And doing it in Copenhagen, where I won my first world title, adds something to it.” The CPH Half is known to provide fast times and world records. This meant, that the news of Geoffrey Kamworor's attendance spurred rumors of a possible new world record, and those predictions were correct.
